JOANNA STEVENS
Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner
ABOUT ME
I live in Swarthmore with my husband, our two children, and our dog. As a child I was diagnosed with dyslexia and experienced the pain of watching my classmates surge ahead when I was still struggling to name my letters. With the right teachers and a lot of hard work, I was able to learn to read and become a strong student -- I was the valedictorian of my high school class, and I graduated from college with honors. Working with children as a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner is my dream job. For me, nothing is more exciting and rewarding than helping a child unlock the world of reading.
TUTORING SERVICES
I provide reading intervention for students in second grade through twelfth grade who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling. I use the Wilson Reading System which is based on the Orton-Gillingham instructional approach. The Wilson Reading System directly addresses students' issues with reading and spelling acquisition using a repetitive and structured multisensory approach.

I meet with students in my home office or virtually on Zoom. A minimum of two 60 minute lessons a week are required to make progress, and the cost of a 60 minute lesson is $90.

"Joanna Stevens is one of a handful of gifted teachers I trained in the Wilson Reading System. She is calm, positive, organized, and astute in determining each student's strengths and needs. She teaches with fidelity and is sincerely patient and respectful."
